Bilderbuch der Wünsche. Clemens Brentanos „Gockel Hinkel Gackeleia“
Der Beitrag bietet eine Relektüre von Brentanos Spätfassung des Märchens von Gockel, Hinkel und Gackeleia, wobei zwei Fragestellungen im Vordergrund stehen: Anhand des Begehrens wird die Textstruktur erläutert und die thematische Kontinuität der Früh- und Spätfassung betont. In einer zweiten übergeordneten Fragestellung wird die Modernität von Brentanos Spätwerk behandelt. Es werden Gründe dafür angeführt, warum auch die Spätfassung des Märchens nicht zweckästhetischen Gesichtspunkten untergeordnet werden kann.
This article offers a re-reading of Brentano’s late version of the fairy tale about „Gockel, Hinkel und Gackeleia“, concentrating on two questions. Firstly, the structure of the text is explained using the concept of desire, and the thematic continuity of the early and late versions is emphasized. A second, overriding question is that of the modernity of Brentano’s late work. Reasons are given as to why even the late version of the fairy tale cannot be seen as subordinate to pragmatic aesthetic considerations.
